The Learning Tree At OBC (Begins November 13th, 2014)

Join us at 7:00pm, Thursday, November 13th, and the following five weeks for “Sing Up”. During this module of The Learning Tree, we will focus on learning four part harmonies, with a special focus on singing Christmas Carols. “Sing Up” will then be followed by a 60 minute elective of your choice. Please take a look at the selections below and drop by at the church (On Sunday or anytime during the weekday – please check our office hour) to complete the signup form.

Ring The Bells 

Learn how to play the hand bells and prepare for a performance during the Christmas season. No Previous experience is needed. The conductor / instructor will be Ms. Judy Grams.

Introduction to Crocheting

If you want to learn a new craft that uses a hook and yarn and can give you hours of enjoyment on those long autumn and winter nights, or if you are simply curious about this craft form, then sign up for the class. Our special guest presenter will be Ms. Reni Gitschmann.

The Leadership Challenge

This class will be an introduction to leadership principles and leadership in the church. If you’d like to know more about such things as making good decisions, resolving conflict, and qualifications and responsibilities of elders and deacons, attend this class, presented by Dr. Brad Crossley.

Join us at 7:00pm, Thursday, September 4th, and the following five weeks for “Sing Up”. During this module of The Learning Tree, we will focus on learning some songs you may have heard on the radio while driving your car, or on a turntable in your grandma’s living room. Or they may be entirely new to you. During “Sing Up”, you will be introduced to a few of the better contemporary and traditional songs that will encourage and inspire. “Sing Up” will then be followed by a 60 minute elective of your choice. Please take a look at the selections below and drop by at the church (On Sunday or anytime during the weekday – please check our office hour) to complete the signup form.

Four-part A cappella Harmony. 

Under the direction of Dr. Herb Sturhahn, participants in this course will be introduced to the method of quartet singing (all male or all female) without the use of musical instruments. In other words, the four-part harmony is all vocal. If you enjoy singing and want to expand your repertoire, then this is the course for you.

Pencil Sketching 2.

This class will on the art of pencil sketching, including 3D techniques. the class is open to both new and returning students and will be adapted to the intersts and requests of the participants. The instructor is Mrs. Mee-Ahe park.
