The Learning Tree at OBC

Join us every Thursday for six weeks, beginning September 7, at 7:00 p.m. for “Sing Up.” In these sessions you will learn and practice music to be sung at our special Thanksgiving Celebration (October 8).  Then from 7:30 – 8:30 join an elective of your choice and be personally enriched.

  • The Rise of Modern Israel – The Jewish state, after being dormant – but not forgotten – for nineteen centuries, is alive and active in the 21st century.  In the six weeks of this seminar you will learn how this small but important and unique nation was formed.  Taught by Dr. Herb Sturhahn, you will hear stories of victories and tragedies, enemies and friends, heroes and villains.  But enough of this hype.  Just turn off your TV and come to the Learning Tree!
  •  Bowing Down: The Meaning, Planning, and Leading of Worship – Presented by Pastor Brad, this course will give an overview of worship for anyone involved on a worship team; for anyone who is interested in joining a worship team; or for anyone who is simply curious about the practice of worship.
  •  Planning Ahead – Whether you are young or old, there is no better time to plan for the future than now.  In this course Masao Morinaga will discuss legal topics (such as wills, estates, power of attorney), Esther Lee will discuss medical issues (such as advocacy and care for family members and advance directives) and Judy Grams will discuss emotional support issues (such as caring for yourself and caring for others when facing major health concerns).
